Volunteer

We are currently only accepting volunteer applications for our Renton clinic as Lynnwood is in the process of a move. To volunteer in Lynnwood, please check back here in August 2024.

More volunteers offering their time and talents equals more cats saved. It’s that simple.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project and being a part of the compassionate solution to end feline homelessness!

Volunteers are the backbone of our program.  Without them, the FCSNP couldn’t help a single cat! We rely on volunteers to ensure the success of our high-volume, high-quality surgery program as well as represent our organization and spread the word about our work.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

As a clinic volunteer, you will work closely with our veterinary team. Volunteer shift availability varies by role and location, most shifts totaling 2-6 hours per day.  At our Lynnwood clinic (open Mon-Thu), new volunteers will be asked to commit to a weekly or every-other-week shift for a minimum of 3 months. Our Renton clinic (open 1-2 days a week on Fridays and irregular Saturdays/other days depending on veterinarian availability) offers flexible scheduling for volunteers.

Current clinic volunteer opportunities include:

  • Surgery Prep: Performing surgical preparation of feline patients, including shaving and scrubbing surgical sites

  • Surgery Recovery: Monitoring cats after surgery to ensure they are warm, safe, and waking up from anesthesia appropriately

  • Surgery Packs: Cleaning, sorting, and wrapping surgical instrumentation

  • Clinic Maintenance: Cleaning and restocking the clinic after surgeries conclude for the day

  • Check-In: Assisting with patient intake before surgeries begin

For positions that require direct contact with our feline patients, prior animal handling/veterinary experience is helpful, but not required. We are happy to train you!

Other volunteer opportunities include:

  • Donation Acquisition: Sourcing and delivering donations of carriers, towels, sheets, and fleece

  • Fundraising: Recognizing and thanking our donors, and assisting with our monthly E-Mews and quarterly newsletter

  • Outreach: Speaking to the public about what we do and how they can help, collecting donations, and promoting volunteer opportunities

  • Special Events: Assisting with our fundraisers and events by bussing tables, running auctions, selling raffle tickets, etc.

  • Crafts: Sewing covers for heat pouches used to keep our patients warm after surgery, making cat toys for fundraisers, and more!

COVID-19 Policy as of 09/12/2024: Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations is not currently required for staff and volunteers. Masks are encouraged but no longer required in the clinic.

Policies and procedures requiring vaccinations for future health emergencies with exposure to infectious diseases will be in alignment with state or national policies and recommendations.
